The rotary mower powered by a 70 hp tractor was the most efficient and economical implement combination,being able to mow effectively in 30-46 cm of snow at a cost of $0.01 per meter. It is believed that managers need not wait until freeze-up to initiate mowing operations assuming the wetland basin is firm enough to support heavy machinery. Preliminary management recommendations and future research are discussed.
