Over-ice mowing of emergent vegetation 1979 progress report. Richard M. Kaminski.
Material type: TextPublication details: Winnipeg, MB : 1980. Ducks Unlimited Canada,Description: 13 p. ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: A self-propelled modified swather and 2 tractor-drawn rotary mowers were tested during November and December 1979 to compare their efficiencies and economics for over-ice mowing of cattail (Typha latifolia) at Milligan Creek, central Saskatchewan. The rotary mower powered by a 70 hp tractor was the most efficient and economical implement combination, being able to mow effectively in 30-46 cm of snow at a cost of $0.01 per meter. It is believed that managers need not wait until freeze-up to initiate mowing operations assuming the wetland basin is firm enough to support heavy machinery. Preliminary management recommendations and future research are discussed.Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
