The system is approaching the point of over-allocation of water and greater demand is anticipated, specifically for industrial uses. Ducks Unlimited (Canada) became involved in the study as a "co-operating agency" on aspects of waterfowl. The study emphasis of Ducks Unlimited involvement was on waterfowl production. One-sixth of the basin was inventoried for wetlands and to determine the extent of habitat destruction by drainage and other land-use practises.
