The Department of Environment,before granting final approval in principle, have requested detailed information on the proposed operation and design (including hydrology)of the Cumberland Marshes project; the construction schedule and the general effect on the environment. As discussed previously with government officials, details pertaining to the environmental impact of development can be obtained from their records or will be supplied by other branches of government. The Department of Environment also has requested detailed plans for individual marsh projects prior to authorization for construction. To meet these requirements Ducks Unlimited staff, in consultation with consultants and through the services of Underwood, McLellan & Associates, have designed a water management scheme to increase waterfowl and muskrat production in the Cumberland Marshes.
