By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Winnipeg, MB : University of Manitoba, 1999.Description: 27 p. : ill. ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: In 1992, Ducks Unlimited initiated a project to evaluate the long-term effects of managing existing re-established native prairie grass swards (Dense Nesting Cover). Periodic management of these native grass sites consisted of prescribed spring burning, mid-season hay cut, a mid-season hay cut and harrowing treatment and an intensive late fall grazing treatment. Each of these treatments are designed to remove (or reduce)aboveground dead biomass which may prevent the maximum biomass production of the sward.
