(some col.) ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: As part of Ducks Unlimited Canada's Western Boreal Forest Initiative, an earth cover mapping project of the Sahtu region of the Northwest Territories was undertaken cooperatively by Ducks Unlimited Canada and Ducks Unlimited, Inc. The project involved the earth cover mapping of a July 8, 1992 Landsat TM satellite scene from Path 55, Row 14 (shifted 51% south) and a change detection of the July 8, 1992 scene with an earlier Landsat TM scene from the same path and row, acquired August 12,1987. For the 1992 earth cover classification, the project area was classified into 32 earth cover categories. The classification scheme was based on Viereck et al. (1992) and had been utilized successfully by Ducks Unlimited, Inc. for earth cover mapping in boreal Alaska. Prior to field data collection, potential field sites were digitized and GPS coordinates for the sites were prepared for uploading to the GPS unit.Field data was collected via helicopter at 409 sites during the initial field session
