With that in mind, this report reviewed already existing sites in the NWT. Sites included were the Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary, the Peel River Preserve and the Reindeer Grazing Reserve.Each site was evaluated to determine the need, if any, for additional protection, from encroaching land use activities. Each site description includes, when possible, the history of the site, types of habitat within, regulations on hunting, existing protection and the managers/agency responsible for enforcement. Finally, this report contains a list of permits and community consultations required to perform research in the NWT.
