The strategies within this document are intended to achieve the visions for the three landscapes (Estuary, Forest, Marine). The first step in the strategic process was to create scenarios for each landscape. The scenarios include descriptions of the current state of the landscape, the major trends in human activity affecting the landscape, the uncertainties of the trends, and possible alternate scenarios. The second step included the development of strategic directions. Existing regional conservation programs can now be evaluated and modified to fit the strategic goals and strategic directions. Through the development of the strategic directions, the landscape visions can be realized and that DUC is effectively doing the right things in the right places.
