Water levels in the marsh are maintained by 2 processes: a. runoff from adjacent uplands, b. flow of water between Delta Marsh and Lake Manitoba. When water levels are low in Lake Manitoba, water flows from Delta marsh into the Lake. When water levels are high in Lake Manitoba (or wind tides build up water at the south end), the flow is reversed.
