We also designed three experiments to assess the effect of cookie-cutter ditches on waterfowl. At Delta, the maximum decrease of ditches' depth was 20 cm in floating phragmites and cattail.Number of pairs per km (per mi.) of ditches varied from 1.3 (2.1) at Steeprock to 5.6 (9.0) at Paunchy Lake. At Missaquash Marsh, no major difference in pair use was observed between two plots with 9 and 13%removal of vegetation.
