Beaver pond management assessment program (1993-1997). T.S Gabor

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Ontario : 1999Online resources: Abstract: Beaver Pond Management (BPM) is a component of the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture (EHJV) implementation program and Ducks Unlimited's habitat program in Ontario. The BPM program focuses on rehabilitating unproductive and/or abandoned beaver ponds and includes a combination of water level manipulation (i.e. dam removal), nesting structures and poplar management. Major objectives of the BPM Assessment Program were to compare waterfowl pair and brood densities and distributions on a series of managed and unmanaged ponds, determine abundance and distribution of selected non-waterfowl species, test the assumptions associated with beaver pond management, and determine the effectiveness of beaver pond management for increasing waterfowl populations. This is the final project report for the BPM Assessment conducted from 1993-1997.
