At that time Government declared its intentions to rehabilitate Delta Marsh. The primary objectives were to increase recreational opportunity for Manitobans, to attract more migratory waterfowl, to increase wildlife productivity and to resolve conflicts associated with land use. To that end it was suggested that a wildlife management area be created, that the Canadian Wildlife Service be approached with a view to joint development, that Ducks Unlimited (Canada) be asked to contribute to the project, and that the general public be invited to participate in the planning.
