Ducks Unlimited Canada,Description: 22 p. : ill. ; colored phot. ; map ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: The Marsh Ecology Research Project (M.E.R.P.) is a biological research area located in the Delta Marsh on the south shore of Lake Manitoba. The research project is a cooperative endeavour between the Delta Waterfowl Research Station and Ducks Unlimited (Canada). M.E.R.P. was constructed in February to April 1979 engulfing a wide range of marsh conditions, from open bay to dense vegetation. The project is made up of approximately 6500 lineal metres of earth dykes forming ten 200 metre by 400 metre cells. The cells are bordered to the north by an existing beach ridge, to the south by a 2000 metre dyke and to the east and west by 400 metre cross dykes. Each cell's water level is independently controlled by the use of a Ducks Unlimited standard half-round control structure for drawdown, combined with an electric pump for water supply.
