Provincial Engineer of Ducks Unlimited (Canada), I.D. Engineering through its affiliate Independent Test-Lab Limited undertook a study of methods of stabilizing the surface of the 1.5 mile beach road which parallels and services to containment test cells of the Delta Marsh project. On December 19, 1979 in cooperation with Ducks Unlimited Delta staff samples of the existing road surface were obtained manually from test pits located at various points along the road. The present road is located immediately south of the Lake Manitoba southern beach behind a large sand dune which separates the Delta Marsh from the Lake. It is principally this fine sand dune material that has been used for construction and maintenance of the road over the years. With anticipated increased traffic due to the eminent development of the Delta Marsh plus the increased difficulty of maintenance operations,concern has developed for maintaining 12 month
