The West Marsh opening September 24, two weeks earlier than the October 8 opening of the East and Lake Francis Marshes (Delta Waterfowl Control Area). It was hoped this regulation would protect migrating Canvasback and Redhead by allowing the major portion of the population to pass through the Delta area before hunting began. Bag limits were reduced to 6 birds this year of which not more than three could be mallards and not more than one could be a Canvasback or Redhead. After October 8, two bonus Scaup could be taken daily. Five geese could be taken daily of which not more than three could be white-fronted geese.Morning only goose hunting opened for the entire Delta Marsh September 24. These hunting hours continued until October 8 when all day hunting was permitted from then until the season closure of December 6.
