The Redvers Waterfowl Study Area was established in 1952 in order to obtain a better understanding of the habitat requirements and population dynamics of the various species of ducks which inhabit the Prairie Provinces of Canada. Initial survey work began on May 1, of that year the the period of study has been approximately from May 1 to August 1 each year since the origin of the study. Major objectives are as follows: 1. to identify and evaluate the environmental requirements of the various species of waterfowl for nesting, feeding, brooding,rearing, moulting and other activities. 2. to determine and measure the importance of the environmental factors influencing production. 3. to determine the combination of environmental factors which best meets the requirements of waterfowl by species and which insures maximum production.
