Primary reasoning for opposition to steel shot were indicated to be excessive cost of steel shot followed by crippling of waterfowl due to steel shot, unavailability of steel shot shells, and firearm damage. Six percent of the hunters indicated they would violate steel shot regulations if implemented on areas they hunt while 4.4% indicated they currently violate regulations.
