During the summer of 1980, under the supervision of the C.P.S.C.P.A. a project was established to study methods of protecting Special Crops, particularly field corn and sunflowers, from the heavy predation suffered by these crops from blackbirds. Funding for this project was supplied by the Agro-Man cost sharing agreement under which the Federal Government supplies 60% and the Provincial Government 40% of funding for projects leading to improved agricultural performance.
