The impact of drought on fish. Marc Gaboury

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Manitoba : 1988Online resources: Abstract: The impact of drought on fish varies with the seasons of the year and, because water is the medium in which fish live, drought can effect fish in all their life stages - from egg to adult. In most cases, fish mortality is used as a visual indicator of an impact eventhough sublethal effects are anticipated. These effects could include a depressed feeding and growth rate, increased vulnerability to predation, and poor physical condition leading to the fish's inability to produce gametes for reproduction. The following discussion will address the various known impacts of drought on fish in three main seasons--spring,summer and winter.
