Waterfowl inventories, hunter bag checks, performance and questionnaire surveys were utilized to evaluate the season at the request of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).Hunter field checks and the questionnaire survey revealed that a very limited harvest of approximately 2% of the 15,000 canvasback that wintered in the study areas occurred during the initial special hunt in 1983-84 (Ferrigno et al. 1984). In 1984-85, approximately .9% were taken by hunters (Ferrigno et al. 1985) and in 1985-86, an estimated 4% were harvested. The limited harvest was attributed to canvasback concentrating in refuges in 1983-84 and mild weather and late migration in 1984-85.Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
