By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Fargo, ND : North Dakota State University, 1979.Description: 1 v. (various pagings) ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: Nine shrub species were sampled on a bi-weekly basis from the first of June through the last of August, 1977 and on a monthly basis from October, 1977 through May, 1978. During the growing season each species was collected from two different areas, southeastern and southwestern North Dakota. Plant materials were separated into leaves, twigs (current year's growth), and fruits when present. The shrub tissue collected in the period October 1977 through April 1978 consisted of twigs only.Tissue collected in May was a combination of newly emerging leaves and twigs, thus both tissue parts were lumped together and analyzed as such. After collection, the plant parts (leaves, twigs and fruits) were then air-dried, ground in a Wiley mill using a 1 mm sieve, and analyzed for the following constituents: percent ash, acid detergent lignin (ADL),acid detergent fiber (ADF), protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and in-vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD). The species involved were leadplant
