The visual obstruction readings and available nesting cover were higher (P<0.05) in idle grassland when compared to the grazed treatments. None of the grazed treatments consistently provided more (P<0.05) nesting cover when compared to the other grazed treatments.Nest densities (Mayfield) were also higher (P<0.05) in the idle area (36.5 nests/40.5 ha) when compared to seasonlong grazing (6.3 nests/40.5 ha), or twice-over rotation (11.7 nests/40.5 ha), short duration (12.3 nests/40.5 ha), and complementary (12.4 nests/40.5 ha) grazing systems.Nesting success (Mayfield) was highest in the twice-over rotation grazing system (48.7%) where an average of 5.7 nests/40.5 ha hatched per year.
