Upland provided the least productive habitat. The figures derived for nesting densities, average clutch sizes, and hatching success provided the means for calculating a production of 396 ducklings per acre on small-island habitat (all nesting species combined).Amortized over 50 years, the cost of producing ducks by constructing small islands was found to be $ 0.17 per duckling. The results of the comparisons of nesting efficiency on various habitats may be used in planning future waterfowl management programs.
