We also used body water content to estimate lipid and protein levels for collected birds and compared these estimates to actual values. There was no differences in determined and estimated carcass lipid and protein content between age, sex and migration season.Immature males were heavier than immature females during fall migration.During spring migration, carcass protein content decreased, while carcass lipid content and body mass increased. Carcass protein content also decreased during fall migration. However, body mass and lipid content showed no significant change.
