A survey of landowner attitudes to project improvement and management / Tim Sopuck.

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: 1982.Description: 10 p. ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: Surveys were conducted with 7 landowners who own or lease significant portions of D.U. projects which have recently been through a P.I.program, including a managed drawdown. The drawdowns have been considered successful from D.U.'s point of view, with the habitat being markedly enhanced for wildlife. The purpose of this survey was to ascertain the impressions of landowners to changes in the wetlands as well as our recent emphasis on management of their areas. I had general discussions with the landowners, but I attempted to get specific answers to 3 questions; (1) Have you noticed much change since the drawdown? (2)Do you think the wetland is better than it was before? (3) Do you think that D.U. has neglected the area in the past? In many cases, it was hard to get direct answers to my questions, but I recorded my impressions of the landowners general attitudes to the improvements. The results are presented for each landowner, and that is followed by a general summary.
