Crop depredation prevention sites a review of practices and considerations for : R.J. Seguin. senior staff, province of Saskatchewan /

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Regina, SK : 1983. Ducks Unlimited Canada,Description: 26 p. : maps ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: In its simplest form the objective of a bait station is to attract and feed (hold) primarily ducks in a controlled area as opposed to having them forage a-field. Such operations are typically established in areas where high numbers of birds are in close proximity to crop land, hence a conflict (at least potentially) exists. Thus, uncontrolled crop depredation is greatly reduced by managed feeding. To effectively deal with these types of operations a number of elements must be considered:where to locate a site, regionally and specifically, what type of pad is required, what are the operation specifications and, possible detrimental results. As this program is a joint effort with Sask.D.T.R.R., who determine many of the estabishment criteria and all of the operations at these sites, their present view of these sites will be identified and presented with all other information being presented as alternatives and other considerations.
