Findings indicate this wetland has had persistent water for many years resulting in an open lake fringed with emergent plants. The majority of uplands adjacent to the marsh are either wooded, hayed or grazed limiting their value as nesting cover for waterfowl. Occasionally, flooding is a concern to local residents. The lake is capable of producing more waterfowl than presently takes place.It is recommended that the lake be divided into two cells each with drawdown capability to encourage emergent plant growth. Further, to provide nesting cover, areas of upland habitat should be secured. A small amount of internal works including islands and level ditching should be considered. A discussion of waterfowl values with combinations of one or more of the above is provided.
