The program seeks to document ecological responses to intensive water level manipulations within the 19 separate marsh units comprising the 30,000 ha of wetland habitat under management in the project. Annual estimates of waterfowl breeding pair and brood densities have been an important component of the program from its outset since the success of DU operations is evaluated in terms of benefits to waterfowl production.
