Oak Hammock Marsh parking lot runoff contaminants / Oak Hammock Marsh.

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Winnipeg, MB : 1991.Description: 1 v. ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: Major contaminants that may be introduced into the marsh from surface water running off from the proposed parking lots may include; Road Salt,Sand and Gravel, Oil and Other petroleum products. A literature review of surface runoff water quality was done with particular attention to Storm Water Retention Basins that have been constructed within the City of Winnipeg in the last couple of decades. It was thought that these would reflect the type of contaminants that might be found in the runoff. Also a couple of the stormwater runoff computer models were also reviewed with respects to their ability to predict water quality. An estimate of the quantity of salt and oil being introduced into the marsh from the parking lot was done. These calculation make many assumptions and the answer should be taken as magnitude of salt and oil added to the marsh rather than a precise answer.
