High water levels and historic lack of drought or drawdowns in the complex have resulted in low densities of submergent vegetation and sparse invertebrate populations. A development proposal has been completed which would create seven independently manageable basins,reduce high water levels and provide full drawdown capabilities. This proposal, which is estimated to cost $733,000 has been negotiated with all private landowners and lessees and the Rural Municipality.
