By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: ON : 1974.Description: 1 v. (various pagings) : ill. , maps ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: In 1970 the Canadian Wildlife Service outlined a project proposal for a habitat improvement program in southwestern Ontario. During the year a number of pair and group counts were carried out on wetlands within four selected studied areas. These four areas were: 1) Aurora, 2) Galt (Cambridge) - Guelph, 3) Brantford - Galt, and 4) Cayuga, the more productive areas being in the order listed above with Cayuga having the smallest individual-sized wetlands and appearing to be the least productive (Appendix 1). Following this investigation they undertook to implement a pilot project in 1972 for the development of 10-20 sites in the vicinity of Aurora and to extend the program in 1973. The C.W.S.under Jim Collins started the small marsh program but for lack of funds requested Ducks Unlimited's assistance for financing the construction of projects (excluding culverts). Ducks Unlimited assisted with the program in 1974.
