A major part of the early stages of the study involved discussions and interviews with Municipal residents to ascertain how they perceived local resource problems in terms of severity and extent, as well as their perceptions of the kinds of remedial measures might be best suited to improve and/or protect the resource base. Runoff control, potential groundwater pollution, water supply problems, and land drainage,particularly as it pertains to soil salinity, have been identified as the major issues of concern in the Municipality. However, the control of wind and water erosion to maintain a productive land base, is also a critical item for consideration.
