An estimated 396 waterfowl were produced on the marsh in 1987. Production was limited by low water levels in the spring which reduced the amount of available brood habitat, and by rapidly rising water levels later in the breeding season. It was not possible to assess the affect of the zero discharge agreement. The level ditches provided some open water area for birds throughout the breeding season.
