Marsh bird surveys and habitat evaluation of Ducks Unlimited Maritime cookie-cutter project / MacLaren Marex Inc.

The proposed 1980 program is a continuation of the 1979 monitoring program and will be undertaken to fulfill the following four objectives,outlined in Ducks Unlimited request for bids. 1. To monitor waterfowl use (breeding pairs, broods, activity budgets) in response to varying cookie-cutter treatments. 2. To assess resource levels of aquatic invertebrates relative to treatments and habitat conditions where treatments have been imposed. 3. To evaluate vegetative regrowth within cookie-cutter channels. 4. To document use of treated areas by other marsh birds (coots, grebes, blackbirds, etc.). These data will be used to develop optimal management procedures for future cookie-cutter utilization. The methods and time schedule used will be basically those outlined in Ducks Unlimited request for bids.
