The objective of the study was to assess waterfowl use at each project, and to evaluate upland and wetland habitat, and peripheral water conditions. Four surveys of each project were conducted between 25 April and 15 June to enumerate the number,species and social status of waterfowl, and three surveys conducted between 4 July and 10 August to enumerate the number, species and age of broods. Maps of the upland and emergent vegetation within 2km of each project basin were prepared. Project water levels were monitored, and peripheral wetlands assessed to determine their number, distribution and degree of water permanency.
