Ducks Unlimited Canada,Description: 36 p. : ill. ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: As a result of continuing concern over crop depredation by waterfowl and the resultant financial losses to Western farmers the Canadian Wildlife Service and the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba undertook an intensive evaluation of the prairie lure crop programs during the fall of 1972. Included in the Manitoba evaluation was a weekly census of major waterfowl staging areas. Special attention was directed toward the depredation prone portions of Agro-Manitoba. This report summarizes the results of the weekly aerial census of staging areas in the Southern Region and briefly discusses the importance of each. Similar data were collected for the other Regions and is presumably available from Regional Offices.
