A system of wetland evaluation based on size of the marsh, percent area in waterfowl,feeding range, percent years basin will hold water, adjacent water areas, and plant productivity limitations was developed. This gives a value of the wetland in productive hectare equivalents which are directly proportional to the potential waterfowl production. This system of wetland evaluation, because it is simple, objective, flexible,directly related to waterfowl production potential, and easily stored on computer files, has many applications with Ducks Unlimited and other agencies wherever an evaluation of waterfowl production capability is required.
