The remaining basins were scheduled for irrigation in 1984, however due to extreme drought only 56 and 50 basins were flooded throughout the pair and brood seasons respectively. A total of 817 and 1520 pairs were enumerated for a density of 2.6 and 4.4 pairs/ha in 1983 and 1984 respectively. A minimum of 191 or 0.8 broods/ha were produced in 1983 and 386 or 1.2 broods/ha were produced in 1984. Numbers of fall staging waterfowl also increased in 1984. Increases reflect increased flooded area of the project and drought. Breeding pair and brood densities lie within the range reported for other D.U. projects in prairie Alberta.Densities of 0.6 pairs/ha and 0.1 broods/ha were recorded for the Kitsim reservoir. Cladocera were the most frequent nektonic invertebrate during the pair season, whereas Hydracarina, Hemiptera and Gastropoda were most frequent during
