Waterfowl and habitat investigations at selected western Canada wetlands (1980) Vol.I: Methods, water levels project summaries Environmental Management Associates

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: 1980Online resources: Abstract: For 1980, Environmental Management Associates was retained to coordinate the field studies and production of a report. The purpose of the studies is to estimate waterfowl production by means of pair and brood counts, and to assess the value of DU projects on an individual and collective (biome) basis. In 1980, 49 projects were studied in five separate study areas. Each study area was assigned ten projects, or the equivalent in terms of work effort. The 1980 studies represent an expansion of the scope of the program in that two new study areas - British Columbia (Cariboo Parkland biome) and Southern Alberta (Prairie biome) - were added to the Northern Alberta (Forest/Parkland) biomes, Saskatchewan (Prairie/Parkland biomes) and Manitoba (Parkland/Prairie biomes) study areas. Data collected in each study area measured waterfowl numbers and habitat parameters. The latter were gathered in order to describe conditions as they relate to nesting, breeding pair use and brood-rearing. Crews wer
