(various pagings) ; 28 cmOnline resources: Abstract: Under a new program called Prairie Care, introduced in June by the national conservation group, farmers in selected target areas will be offered incentives to adopt conservation land management practices or convert marginal crop lands to pastures or hayland. The hope of Ducks Unlimited is to gain more acres of grassed uplands where dabbling ducks can nest in relative safety. Eligible farmers will be provided payments and technical assistance to convert their poorer crop lands to grasslands. Follow-up rental rates are intended to maintain the grass cover for several years.
