Summary of helicopter brood surveys in Quebec 1983 - 1986. RT Clay and P. Plante

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Ontario - Quebec : 1987Online resources: Abstract: Between 1983 and 1986, Ducks Unlimited (DU) staff in Quebec used helicopters to survey completed projects in order to estimate the numbers of duck broods that used typical DU wetlands. These data were to be used for several purposes, including assessment of cost: benefit ratios for potential projects in the future, comparison of managed and unmanaged marshes to evaluate effects of marsh management, which would help justify future developments to the Quebec government, and to examine annual changes in duck production. This report summarizes the data gathered from managed marshes and is intended to provide information similar to that provided in the CPE study evaluations completed elsewhere. The results of the surveys have been described in previous reports (see Surprenant and Sauro 1984, Plante and Sauro 1985,Plante 1986).
